Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026
The short version. InnerGrid is a private place to organize the people you know. Your contacts, notes and tiers are yours alone: no other user can see them. We don't show ads, we don't sell or rent your data, and you can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
What we collect
- Your school email. You sign in with a 6-digit code sent to your @spartans.ut.edu address. We use it to confirm you're a student and to send you sign-in codes. Your university is worked out from that address.
- Your profile. Your name, graduation year, major (or "Undecided"), career interests and the clubs you choose. Right now no other user can see your profile.
- The contacts you add. Whatever you enter or choose to import for each person: name, company, phone, email, LinkedIn, how you met, notes, tier, categories and follow-up reminder times.
- Phone contacts, only if you import. We ask for Contacts access only when you tap Import. We read just name, company, one phone number and one email, and we save only the people you pick. Everyone else stays on your phone.
- Categories and club requests. Category names you create, and names of clubs you ask us to add to the club list.
We don't use advertising trackers or analytics SDKs, and we don't collect your location, photos or messages.
The beta waitlist
If you join the waitlist on innergridapp.com, we store your @spartans.ut.edu email and the date you joined, only to invite you to the beta. We don't send anything else for now, and the list is never shared or published. To be removed, email privacy@innergridapp.com.
Reminders stay on your phone
Follow-up reminders and the optional Sunday summary are scheduled on your device as local notifications. The time of each reminder is saved with your contacts, so it survives a new phone, but no server sends you these notifications. A reminder shows only the contact's name; the Sunday summary shows only counts.
What is never shared
- Your contacts, notes, tiers, reminders and the categories on each contact are visible only to you. This is enforced by the database, not just the app.
- If someone you saved joins InnerGrid, they can't see that you saved them, your tier for them, or your notes.
- We never message your contacts. InnerGrid doesn't send invitations or emails to anyone but you.
- We don't sell, rent or trade your data, and there are no ads.
Numbers other people can see
Some screens show totals, never names:
- The number of verified students. It's hidden until there are 25, then shown rounded down to the nearest 5.
- How many other people use a category ("used by N others"). It's hidden below 5 and never says who.
- A category you create stays visible only to you until 3 different people use it; after that its name (never who created or uses it) can appear in others' category search.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your sign-in, profile, clubs, club requests, contacts, notes, tiers, reminders, category links and the categories only you use are erased. Categories other people also use stay, without any link to you. Contacts that other students saved about you belong to them and aren't affected. Copies may remain in our providers' routine backups for a limited time before they expire.
Exporting your data
A way to download everything you've saved is coming. Until then, email us and we'll send you a copy.
Who processes your data for us
- Supabase: hosts InnerGrid's database and sign-in (United States).
- Resend: delivers your sign-in code emails, so it receives your school email address.
- Apple: distributes the app through the App Store and TestFlight under Apple's own privacy policy.
They process data only to provide these services to InnerGrid.
Who InnerGrid is for
InnerGrid is for university students. It isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app for any significant change. Questions, requests or a copy of your data: privacy@innergridapp.com.
